Las Islas Cies - Galicia, Spain

Galicia has 200 km of unspoilt coastline with coves, stunning beaches, sheer cliffs, and quaint picturesque fishing villages. Las Islas Cies beach is one of the more impressive beaches with far less people visiting the area and is a nature-lover’s dream with spectacular views, crystal clear waters, light oat coloured sands and a calm lagoon.Often considered one of the best beaches in Europe, the white sand of Las Islas Cies remains beautiful because the island is protected as a national park.Las Islas Cies were declared a nature reserve in 1980 and form part of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park (Parque Nacional MarĂtimo-Terrestre das Illas Atlánticas de Galicia). In Spain, National Parks are nature areas with the aim of being untouched by human activity, this means that the islands of Cies are uninhabited and only open to the public during the summer.
